Your exterior isn’t the only thing that people first notice about your home – it’s also the gate! Whether you’ve got a gate that needs a bit of love, or are thinking about getting one, these beautifully crafted and classic designs by Colman Gates come in a range of Resene colours to suit your taste.

Established by a father and son in 2018, Colman Gates based in Palmerston North manufactures gates right from their purpose-built workshop. Every gate is handmade to the customer specifications using locally sourced timber.

The rustic style wooden gates offer a charming feel, blending with both classic and contemporary homes. The Drysdale is a favourite among customers, with a timeless less-is-more design. For a bit of a twist, you can also try the Angus with raised sides, or the Dorset which offers extra height for security and more privacy.

The popular Drysdale design matches this home’s fence seamlessly, stained in Resene Waterborne Woodsman Dark Oak.

This custom design is painted in Resene Simply Red, with surrounding fence in Resene Waterborne Woodsman Dark Oak.

“Our colour palette is determined by our customers’ requests with many favouring the darker shades,” says Craig Colman. “We have always used Resene for our personal projects because of great store service and quality products so we didn't look at any other brands when choosing a paint range.”

The darker colours are also available in Resene CoolColour technology, which will keep your paintwork and stains lasting longer thanks to its heat resistance properties.

This custom gate is painted in dark Resene Element, complementing the existing brick posts.

Looking great in a rural setting, this Coopworth gate is painted in Resene Light Tan from the Resene Heritage range, with the surrounding fence painted in Resene Black

Using rough sawn and dressed timber in a variety of thicknesses, you can either pick from the standard gate designs or supply an image or drawing of something you would like – this personal and approachable service means you know you will get a design you will love for years to come.
