Our favourite homes from 2018
Each week on the blog, we feature a home that’s put Resene colours to work in ways that inspire and delight. While we love each House of the Week for its own uniqueness and originality, these six houses really stood out for us in 2018.

Sonia creates a live-in work of art
We think homes which celebrate the individuality of its owners through bold colours and honest, tactile materials are worthy of the highest accolades. Check out the amazing job Sonia van de Haar did to breathe her clients’ lust for life into this New South Wales home.
Stuart and Tracey’s stunning light-flooded home
While having a well-windowed home with a great spatial layout certainly makes an interior designer’s job much easier, we particularly love the warm and welcoming finishes in Stuart and Tracy’s Auckland home. The soft-looking carpets and rich leather furnishings look especially inviting against a backdrop of fresh Resene Alabaster, and we’d be keen to pull up a chair to their impressive dining table.
Lara and Isaac’s artful and magical makeover
Brimming with bold florals and leafy touches, this Bay of Plenty home superbly marries modern and natural through a healthy dose of Resene Seeker ultramarine. We’re especially envious of the stellar artworks and the garden Lara and Isaac have carefully cultivated inside and out.
Jamie and Harriet find the perfect white
Everyone who’s tried to find the ‘just right white’ for their home knows the task isn’t as simple as it might seem—and this design duo picked three! We love the way Jamie and Harriet’s 1920s bungalow looks ‘adult enough’ for entertaining while still being comfortable enough to be enjoyed by the whole family. Get a closer look here.
Marcelle and Simon’s colour-lover’s villa
Marcelle’s ingenious hideaway study knocked it out of the park, and the choice to deck it out in Resene Korma from top to bottom was a total grand slam. Not only does it provide space for her to buckle down on computer and paperwork, it hides away all the clutter that previously lived on her dining table. We equally love the use of Resene Nocturnal,Resene Reservoir and Resene Glamour Puss throughout the rest of the home, and daughter Lulu’s room is positively darling.
Harriet’s dreamy scheme for a rebuilt farm cottage
This covetable Waikato cottage designed by Harriet Di Maio satisfies every one of our heritage-chic fantasies. Weathered, century-old wood flooring and panelled doors? Check. Warm brights framed by lofty ceilings? Check. A jaw-dropping vintage bathtub to soak in? CHECK.
