Get your scare on this Halloween with these three spooky DIYs!

Whether you’re planning a Halloween party or just love to get involved in this spooky holiday, these three easy DIY projects will be sure to catch everyone’s eye! You can use the same colours as us, or pop into your local Resene ColorShop to pick your favourite testpots!
Frankenpot
You will need:
- 1x Terracotta pot (ours was 14cm tall and 16cm wide)
- Paintbrush
- Fine paintbrush
- Pencil
- Glue
- Reels
- Googly eyes or you can paint them on using Resene White and Resene Black
- Resene testpots in your chosen colours. We used Resene Bilbao, Resene Concrete and Resene Black
Step 1:Paint the pot in your chosen colour. We usedResene Bilbao.
Step 2:Draw the hair and mouth onto the painted pot in pencil.
Step 3:Paint over the pencil lines with Resene Black.
Step 4:Paint the reels in another of your chosen colours. We usedResene Concrete.
Step 5:Glue on the googly eyes and the reels. If you don’t have any googly eyes handy, you can paint the eyes using Resene White and Resene Black.
Step 6:Pop in some treatstoshare with others.

Squash the ordinary
You will need:
- A piece of MDF which is about 40cm x 40cm and 1cm thick, allow as many pieces as you need placemats or you can use any leftover heavy cardboard instead
- Pumpkin template (ours was about 30cm wide and 30cm tall)
- Jigsaw
- Pencil
- Paintbrush
- Fine paintbrush
- Resene testpots in your chosen colours. We used Resene Clockwork Orange and Resene Black
Step 1:Using the pumpkin-shaped template and a pencil, draw the pumpkin shape ontothe piece of MDF board.
Step 2: Using a jigsaw cut the pumpkin shape out.
Step 3: Paint the pumpkin shape in your chosen colour. We used Resene Clockwork Orange.
Step 4:Using a pencil draw the pumpkin face on the painted pumpkin ready for painting.
Step 5: Using a fine paintbrush, paint the eyes onto the pumpkins in Resene Black.
Step 6: Arrange your placemats on your table with your other spooky décor and favourite plates.

Ghostly elegance
You will need:
- MDF Placemat
- Ghost template
- Jigsaw
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Paintbrush
- Fine paintbrush
- Resene testpots in your favourite ghostly shades. We used Resene Alabaster and Resene Black
Step 1:Using a ghost template, draw the shape and the circles for the hole onto the piece of MDF board in pencil. You could also use thick cardboard if you have this at home.
Step 2:Cut the hole for the napkin ring using a hole saw, or scissors if you’re using cardboard.
Step 3:Cut out the shape of the ghosts using a jigsaw, or scissors if you’re using cardboard.
Step 4: Paint your ghosts in your chosen colour. We used Resene Alabaster.
Step 5:Using a fine paintbrush, paint the eyes onto the ghosts in Resene Black.
Step 6: Add your napkin and place on your table setting.
