Wicker wonderland: Paint your own DIY basket wall art

Are you looking for a creative and unique way to spruce up your walls? Look no further than this charming DIY basket wall décor idea. Not only is it an affordable option, but it also adds a touch of rustic elegance to any room. Whether you're aiming to create a boho-inspired oasis or a cosy farmhouse atmosphere, these baskets painted in stylish Resene colours will instantly transform the look and feel of any space.

You will need:

• Rattan/woven plates and placemats
• Paintbrush
• Painters tape
• Resene testpots in paint colours of your choice. Fleur used Resene Black, Resene White and Resene Crail.

Step 1: Start by painting in areas of your baskets and placemats with one of your chosen Resene paint colours. Fleur used Resene Black. Use painters masking tape to get a crisp line.   

Step 2: Fill in some of the areas with your next Resene paint colour. Fleur used Resene White.

Step 3: Finish by adding a final Resene paint colour of your choice to some of the remaining unpainted spaces. Fleur used Resene Crail.

Optional – apply Resene Aquaclear over all unpainted surfaces for a smoother finish that will make it easier to dust the art.
